Experience Peak Spring Migration at Point Pelee with Christopher Dodds

Join Christopher Dodds for a fully licensed, exclusive photo walk in Point Pelee National Park during the most exciting time of spring migration. This is the statistically prime period to witness vibrant warblers arriving in spectacular fallouts, creating exceptional opportunities for bird photography.

With more than 40 years of experience photographing birds and leading workshops, Christopher offers expert in-the-field instruction to help photographers of all levels improve their technique, fieldcraft, and results.

Sony representatives Patrick Chan and Daniel Gutierrez will also be joining the event to provide technical support and hands-on assistance with Sony cameras and lenses.

Participants are welcome to bring their own gear, and photographers of all brands are invited. Sony will also have a selection of professional loaner cameras and lenses available free of charge for trial, with limited quantities available.

You do not need an extreme super-telephoto lens to succeed on this walk. Excellent images can often be made with lenses starting in the 400mm range.

Above all, this is an opportunity to experience Point Pelee with one of its most knowledgeable photographic guides, in a welcoming and supportive environment designed for photographers of all experience levels.

Point Pelee Spring Migration Photography Workshop with Christopher Dodds

Join renowned Canadian nature photographer Christopher Dodds, Sony Canada Ambassador and X-Rite Master Coloratti, for an immersive Point Pelee bird photography workshop during peak spring migration at one of North America’s most celebrated bird photography destinations.

Point Pelee National Park, a narrow peninsula extending into Lake Erie, serves as a critical landfall for migratory birds crossing the Great Lakes. During peak spring migration, birders and photographers may encounter over 100 species in a single day, including up to 25 species of warblers.

When weather conditions align, the park can experience the legendary “wave day” phenomenon — when large numbers of migrating songbirds descend into the trees at once, creating extraordinary photographic opportunities.

Of course, as photographers, our ideal conditions are often a bit different than birders. Fewer species lingering longer often leads to better photographic opportunities and stronger images.

Group size is intentionally limited to ensure personalized instruction and the best possible photographic opportunities.

This Point Pelee photography workshop is designed for photographers of all skill levels who want to photograph spring warblers and migrating songbirds.

“My Niece and I went to Point Pelee with Chris Dodds Photo and it was a terrific experience. He is very knowledgeable with birds, their species, their calls and is quite witty. If you listen when he tells you to bring certain things on your trip and when he talks about camera usage etc you will gain so much from your time with him! He knows his clientele very well and try’s to cater to them. He has a good analogy on some things and makes you focus on the details. It was an enjoyable week!”

“I would encourage you to consider one of Chris’s workshops because they are fun and in such diverse locations. I have never failed to come home with better images than I had imagined prior to the experience. I have found the other participants to be interesting and nice people, and because the workshops are so excellent, there are a lot of repeat customers who have been in previous workshops. Each workshop is a highlight of my year.
Chris is a positive person who makes the experience as enjoyable as possible even with early morning and late afternoon hours to take advantage of the best light of the day. Thanks, Chris for helping me become a better photographer.”
